Forum: movies Subject: FTP upload option for editing an item?

I need to replace a video file because it was not uploaded correctly. (Details page shows 3GB were uploaded, while actual file size is 6.9GB). I would like to use FTP to upload the new file because I've found that to be a reliable way to upload large files. However, when I get to the Item manager, and click "Checkout" (which used to give FTP account info) the system now goes to the "Internet Archive Item Editing Tool" which does not use FTP and which does not give feedback about uploading files larger than 2GB. So far I have not been able to use this interface to upload the file. Is there a way to use FTP for updating files in an item? I know many users may prefer a graphical http page / flash page, but since the FTP capability works well, it would be nice to have that as an option.

Update: I think I've successfully uploaded the file using the "non-flash" method on the "Internet Archive Item Editing Tool" page. However, I still think it would be useful to have an FTP option.

Looks like the FTP option caused too many problems to keep, for example see webmistress Tracey's comments:
